Well this is the switch I have in my RP, showing the well-earned patina of age and that’s the way it will stay!

Clean the letters with white spirit, when dry apply liberal coat of car polish. when the polish is dry, gently rub of the polish from the panel but not the letters. this leaves a nice white deposit. you may have to repeat the process every 10 years or so!

Thanks all for all the info. I will give it a go in slower time. As Bruce (RR) says I know what the switch position do. I will need to provide a new black background before the white.

I will definitely take the advice not to dismantle the switch?? Bruce
