What does TPM stand for ?
Turns/Teeth  per…

Turns per mile

RE: Speedo - Peter Naulls - 23-08-2022

Many years ago I had a speedo recalibrated by Speedy Cables, I've no idea how it was done but all the modification was internal and perfectly accurate. It's still spot on 30000 miles later and I also remember it being very reasonably priced at the time. Maybe I was just lucky with the available parts but it would seem preferable to having an external gearbox.

RE: Speedo - k8207418 - 23-08-2022

I have taken the speedo out of the case and can see the input is a worm gear which drives a cog that has 20 teeth
I guess the calibration is changing the the number of teeth on this cog
I have an old/knackered speedo in my box of doom so I attempted to remove this cog however the circlip/ washer that holds the shaft in place was very difficult to remove without destroying it.
I would be interested to know if anyone has changed this cog to calibrate and if so how the clip is designed to be removed
