I learnt the hard way to cut the side tubes, make a sleeve, bolt the diff, half shafts and hubs together and tack it together using the high precision "weld where it touches" approach.

Me too Charles. I also offer up the tacked up axle to the springs previously fitted into the chassis frame to make sure all the eyes line up before making things permanent.
