RE: Chummy radiator capacity? - John Gould - 17-10-2020 Thanks Howard. Thanks Greig, a clever system but maybe a little bit overkill for my ‘Edwardian’ Austin two seater. Probably very useful to have your description in the forum though. Thanks Howard. RE: Chummy radiator capacity? - Zetomagneto - 17-10-2020 Classic mini rad is small and will cool a seven RE: Chummy radiator capacity? - Howard Wright - 18-10-2020 John The core on my car is 300mm wide and 400mm deep. It is a modern core (hence the mm) fitted into original top and bottom tanks. If you are retaining the thermosyphon system then remember to mount the rad high enough to get a good flow. It also helps to have a relatively large header tank. Unless of course you fit a pump. Fitting a four blade fan might also help a bit. Cheers Howard RE: Chummy radiator capacity? - John Gould - 18-10-2020 Just jury rigged the cooling system to the engine and find that it will hold 7 pints so, assuming the core is as good internally as it looks externally (!), all should be ok. Thanks to all who replied and especially to Howard who measured his rad. What a super forum. |
