RE: A thoroughly modern 1931 estate with A7 saloon - Bob Culver - 11-07-2020 A Riley or Rover. But it was the height of the Depression and very few were flush. I dont know what the standing of publicity people was at the time, but suspect a young graphic artist just as likely to own a bicycle or maybe a motorcycle along with hundreds of others in the factory photos.. Or draw it correctly instead of a bent wire ! Not one of the better covers RE: A thoroughly modern 1931 estate with A7 saloon - Malcolm Parker - 13-07-2020 What about the chrome windscreen surround? I have seen a period photo of a SWB saloon with a chrome surround and my RL saloon has what I assume is the original windscreen with chrome surround, the Triplex glass is dated 1931. RE: A thoroughly modern 1931 estate with A7 saloon - Ian McGowan - 13-07-2020 When I was a smoker (most of my life!) I always tried to select cars which had both sun roof (to let the smoke out) and quarter lights ( to flick the ash out of). Sadly, sun roofs seem to have been replaced by air con. When I had a Ruby, the sun roof spent more time open than closed - weather permitting of course. RE: A thoroughly modern 1931 estate with A7 saloon - Duncan Grimmond - 13-07-2020 The only time I ever bought a new car, a Kangoo in 2008, I specified a sun roof. Still driving it and it's open at every opportunity. Unfortunately it has been left open overnight several times but only once by me... It's a pain sucking water out of the rear seats with a vac and then drying them with a fan heater! |
