My grandfather's Big Seven had the fabric-covered timber frame roof, but that was a very early car - it was the original Mann Egerton demonstrator:

As far as I know my big 7 roof is the original. It was on it when I bought it in 1971 The car was first registered 24 March 1938. Cant think why a steel roof would have been swapped. Pete
