RE: Forum v Facebook - Bob Culver - 29-04-2020 All modern photos, even when kept out of light, seem to degrade seriously.Yet I have family photos from the 1920s which are perfect. (Alaso dubious about text printouts. Seemto fade like old Xerox). What is recommended for prized photos? RE: Forum v Facebook - Chris KC - 29-04-2020 Archival wet printing in monochrome will last at least a lifetime if done properly and stored suitably, though you might struggle to find anyone set up for it now outside of a museum / exhibition context. Colour materials are generally less permanent. I don't think inkjet has really been around long enough to find out, but I doubt it's more durable. RE: Forum v Facebook - Tony Press - 30-04-2020 All my inkjet colour copies of old photographs have faded quite quickly. I wouldn't use inkjet on photographic paper for any long storage -l my 1900 original sepia photographs are in excellent order. RE: Forum v Facebook - Chris KC - 30-04-2020 I have a quite decent sepia print here from the 1860's RE: Forum v Facebook - Ruairidh Dunford - 30-04-2020 Likewise, Chris. |
