That makes sense I guess Alan, plus for a hillclimb car a dynamo is just dead weight.
Of course you also need space to install it, which appears to be the case here.

The reason I had the distributor driven from the camshaft (back in the day!) was to reduce power loss. Every little helps when racing. Only one thing robs power from a drive more than a 90 degree turn and that is two 90 degree turns.

Should of added to my last post it's a smashing little car. Wish I could find one like that.

Thanks for reply, there is an alternator to charge and keep electrics going, electric cooling fan, hope to get it all back to useable condition
and see how it go's will keep you all informed
