RE: Petrol tank sender unit float... - Ruairidh Dunford - 16-04-2020 That sounds pretty good to me David and pretty well proper too! As we says in Brisstle - “Proper Job”! RE: Petrol tank sender unit float... - jonblob33 - 20-05-2020 Hi, has anyone fitted a midget/sprite sender unit? If so did the Austin gauge work with it. Does the needle swing from side to side when the gage is turned upside down? Just fitted midget sensor but gauge not working although T wire straight to earth & gauge reads full. Any suggestions re a fix or source for a compatible modern gauge would be very welcome. Thanks. Kevin. BTW. The car is 12v. RE: Petrol tank sender unit float... - Roland Alcock - 20-05-2020 I fitted an early Morris 1000 sender to the Opal I had. The gauge worked back to front, so I removed the float rod from the pivot shaft and reinserted it it from the other direction. That made the gauge with happily. The existing rod needed a 180 bend in it. If this description doesn’t make sense I can do some photos using another Moggie sender I have. Roly RE: Petrol tank sender unit float... - jonblob33 - 20-05-2020 Thanks Roly. Pics would be good. RE: Petrol tank sender unit float... - Roland Alcock - 21-05-2020 Here is the before and after. Full position is now the empty position on the sender. Roly RE: Petrol tank sender unit float... - jonblob33 - 21-05-2020 Thanks for the pictures Roly. I’ve now found out my sender & gauge are both ok, but the sender is outside the range of the gauge. Will try to adjust with resistors. |
