RE: crownwheel to pinion setup - Tony Press - 30-12-2019 Stuart makes a good point- the 1 1/8" bore roller bearing CRL 9 is 1/8" narrower than the 1" bore ball bearing RMS 8. Check the pair of angular contacts have narrow outer rings and are mounted back to back with the outer rings touching. RE: crownwheel to pinion setup - Bob Culver - 31-12-2019 A browse through several threads may prove useful although will introduce red herrings Noise on Over-run, differential planet gears, Attaching torque tube, CW Run out, Fitting new 5.25 Cw&P to a banjo axle etc The term banjo is often used. I am only familiar with the later 2 piece and torque tube assemblies. I presume the term refers to the central drum of 4 piece assemblies although it seems barely related? RE: crownwheel to pinion setup - steve davidson - 31-12-2019 thanks Tony, Hoping to have time tomorrow to strip them out and inspect I agree, I looked through some and I felt like I was developing more questions than answers. I'll keep going with it and hopefully come with a few definitive comments to post once we get it all sorted. |
