RE: Ignition System Issue ??? - Zetomagneto - 02-09-2019 "Independent of the car's ignition system," are you intending to bench run this? Worse thing you can do to a newly bored engine.Get it in the car and drive it otherwise you will have glazed bores and subsequent excess oil consumption RE: Ignition System Issue ??? - flywheel1935 - 02-09-2019 (02-09-2019, 08:06 AM)Zetomagneto Wrote: "Independent of the car's ignition system," are you intending to bench run this?EEEERR, I can't drive the car, because I can't get it to run, hence the "Independent of the cars ignition" All I need is a simple set-up to run it, so its live to + coil, earth via dizzy via - from coil if I understand correctly ? RE: Ignition System Issue ??? - Bob Culver - 02-09-2019 When tinkering with temp wiring lash up remember the dynamo if it can generate must lnk to the battery. So the output connection to cutout should be in place and the battery fitted. The situation with field and Dyn output linked but to nothing else must be avoided. This is the case in car with battery removed. If connection(s) to the field terminal are removed the dyn will not generate, except for the 4 pole DEL type in rare original state. For these, contrary to usual logic, the terminls are best linked and directly earthed). RE: Ignition System Issue ??? - Bob Culver - 02-09-2019 All with later cars should have that diagram. Even with the most basic grasp, should be able to unfathom from it. Unless so familiar with things electrical you can visualise in your head, will need to draw yourself similar anyway as most Austin diagrams manage to make the incredibly simple circuitry obtuse. (most have now abandoned the devilish dipping refectors, and slight variations for RP) RE: Ignition System Issue ??? - Colin Wilks - 03-09-2019 (02-09-2019, 09:30 PM)flywheel1935 Wrote:(02-09-2019, 09:11 PM)Colin Wilks Wrote: https://aus7in.files.wordpress.com/2015/03/da7cwiring.jpg I must be missing something, but am left wondering why you don't install the car's ignition and charging wiring correctly and then get the engine running? Good luck! RE: Ignition System Issue ??? - Steve Jones - 03-09-2019 Well, at least you tried, Colin. Steve |
