Some pictures of a complete, original sunroof set from a Mk2 ARR Ruby (first three).  The Mk1 ARQ and RP have assemblies that are to all intents and purposes identical other than in dimensions; the last two pictures show a completely new installation the we've fitted to an RP.

The RL and RM roof had similar track arrangements to the RN, but used a lot more wood in their construction.

Thanks for everything Martin. Trying to contact you about the felt bits that are fitted to the slider blocks on the sliding roof. Where can I get them? Any idea? Also how do you fit them after you have taken out the brass rivets holding the old broken bits on?

    Ah all three sunshine roofs I've done have been replicas built from scratch. I glued some 3/16" green felt I got from an upholsters with Evo Stic to home made guides. Only with the last car have I finally got an original sunshine roof and I've found that the roof guides have a slot. what for I've no idea. My guides were bolted to the roof after gluing the felt on I'm not sure if the felt can be successfully glued on with the guide riveted to the roof. Having said that your felt looks OK but in your first photo there appears to be a bright mark on the roof underside suggesting it is binding on something. the fixed guide rails?

These are probably better pics. Yes Dave, the felt are like pockets slid on to the four fixed brackets and then the felt is rivetted through the slot in the middle of the bracket. They are very worn and not suitable for reuse. Firstly if I cannot buy the felts, where can I get felt or any other material that would act as sliders that would glue on the brackets with a high impact adhesive. The felt is similar to the quality of half shaft oil seals and presumably are similarly oiled for smooth running in the grooves.

Thanks Bill, I understand that there is felt and then again there is felt! And then again is how to fix it to the non removable brackets and allow it to slide in the roof channels? Rivetting is not a possibility unless you want to ruin the integrity of a perfectly good roof fabric by trying to remove it. I have found a "felt" specialist online and you wouldn't believe the options! One of which is "You want HOW MUCH SIR!"
