RE: Low diff ratio - Austin in the Shed - 04-06-2019 Isn't it 5.625, 8x45 teeth ? The Big 7 diff is different in that the 1/2 shafts are larger requiring special bearings,(Reduced o/d I think) either side of diff to fit and boring out of the side tubes, I don't think the CWP ratio was any lower either ? If you are running a 4 sp box you wouldn't need that low a ratio. Oops! Never could count!! Steve RE: Low diff ratio - Greig Smith - 04-06-2019 (04-06-2019, 01:10 PM)Steve Jones Wrote: David Cochrane's 5.67:1 is the one to go for, Greg. The trouble with the Austin 5.65:1 sets is that the teeth are quite thin being 8:45 but in the same overall dimension CWP as the 5.25:1 with 8:42 teeth. David's 5.67:1 sets use a 7 tooth pinion which means a much more robust unit. I've used a set in my trials Chummy for many years having destroyed an Austin 5.65 set in about 18 months of trialing. I've fitted a further 5.67 to my hill climb Ulster for this season also. Thanks for that info Steve, reassuring that you have had good success with the parts Aye Greig |
