were the floor pans (or rather, transmission tunnel) in AAK and late AH.. the same? i.e. could a body be retro-ified with new front end panels... to suit a slightly earlier chassis?

I like the romantic explanation, but unless we find his diaries... or perhaps Ritas, presuming she probably outlived him.

Having been on factory shop floors for most of my working life, that is exactly the kind of explanation I was thinking of, but do not have the imagination to write.

Add to that the cavalier attitude to using parts that came to hand, which must have been semi-official at least, it is not surprising that no two cars are alike and many do not fit neatly into the published sequences.
