I don't know what the proper way is to load photos, but I write the text and then PREVIEW POST. Roll down to the bottom of the screen
ATTACHMENTS. Add your photo there. PREVIEW POST again to see where the photo has "lodged" itself.

I think you will have trouble finding 2BA wood inserts so would suggest using M5 screws which are slightly larger in diameter because then you have a multitude of options. How about these: https://www.theinsertcompany.com/brass_hex_drive_insert_for_wood_unheaded.php

I thought that the capping used screws that went through the capping and skin straight into the wood, or have I lost my marbles?

By "capping" do you mean the ali section that runs along the doors and rear section - or the two overlapping castings on each door?
