a day at the races - Tony Betts - 23-08-2020

Good to see the VSCC got Mallory back on this year, even with covid,

Entry was limited, and there were alot less old cars in the parking areas.

But still a good day all round, watching the racing and talking to friends.

A few pics.

My favourite was probably this MG,

Just because it looked like someone had jumped all over it, then tried to put it back with there hands.

    ,

Good to see fellow austiners turn up in there Vauxhall 30/98s

Am I jealous, to right I am.

Although keeping an eye on the car through the day.

The little supersport had far far far more attention than the vauxaulls

Even a 30 minute rain storm didn't dampen the day.

It did make a couple of cars squirm around on the track though.

Always a tricky one?

Do you park under the tree for a bit of shade.

And take the risk of all that sticky sap dripping on the car.

Thanks for posting these pictures, events like this are the main thing I miss about the UK....and perhaps the country roads...but I digress
If I had a choice of those three cars Tony I would have picked yours no question, but then perhaps I am a weirdo.

BTW I see Mark Atkinson had Slippey Ann out recently for a shake down at another event, was anyone there to witness that?

hi ian,

in the nicest possible way we are all a bit weird?

i think we have to be for old cars.

it would be good to see slippery ann out again.

The only thing  I miss in the uk is being able to go to events like this.
Oh and being able to get thing done cheaper than home.

I agree, although I would be very happy to take home the Alvis, the Talbot, or one of the Vauxhalls if Ian has first dibs! I'd even be prepared to have the tree-sap-covered Sunbeam!

RE: a day at the races - Chris Garner - 24-08-2020

The Back to the Track event at Curborough on Saturday attracted around thirty Sevens. A wide selection of models including two original EA Sports, The Forrest Special and Mark's Slippery Anne -  featured here. A great day and thanks to Charlie and Janine for so ably organising it.

More!

Know what you mean about the MG Tony.
So many restorations are just too neat...
