Dating a registration number - Hugh Barnes - 21-01-2020 I know there are some clever chaps on here who can come up with an approximate date for the registration of a vehicle from its number. Can anyone suggest a date of registration for FUV 63 please? many thanks.. Hugh RE: Dating a registration number - Mike Costigan - 21-01-2020 The London-issued FUV series commenced in March 1939. RE: Dating a registration number - Hugh Barnes - 21-01-2020 Thanks Mike - the perfect answer! RE: Dating a registration number - Martin Prior - 22-01-2020 There's a very useful book, out of print, I think. "Where's it from, when was it issued" by Noel Woodall, published by Transport Bookman Publications, ISBN 0 85184018 3. This lists the issue date of every UK registration series from 1903 up to (in the case of mine) 1976. I find it an invaluable reference. RE: Dating a registration number - Smiley - 22-01-2020 Hi , Can anyone give a date for 1932 RP TSJ116. This is an "Age related Reg". Apparently the original was sold to put on an E Type Jag. Thanks. RE: Dating a registration number - JonE - 22-01-2020 This - TSJ in one used series - is just be a standard 3 letter 3 number given for a post 1930 car. RE: Dating a registration number - Martin Prior - 22-01-2020 The sale of original registrations is sheer vandalism and unfortunately, so-called "Age related" registrations are nothing of the sort. On the face of it, "TSJ" looks like a mid-fifties registration, but it is in reality an unused Isle of Bute (SJ) series. An RP should have a two-letter, four number registration, or a three letter, three number plate on which the first letter would almost certainly be an "A", or just possibly a "B". RE: Dating a registration number - JonE - 22-01-2020 ...but instead, they have denigrated other proper Isle of Bute cars on TSJ 1, TSJ 2 and so on! Does anyone know what the replacement series for the pre-30 age relateds is (i.e. SV then BF which ended recently probably... would like to know what we are looking out for now!) RE: Dating a registration number - Martin Prior - 22-01-2020 "TSJ" was never issued as a "real" registration. Single-digit examples such as TSJ 1 will be registrations released by DVLA for auction in recent times and it's no surprise to see that it's worn by a modern Porsche! I'm not sure that there are any unused two-letter series left, so what happens after BF remains to be seen. |
